There are not a lot of Brittany's competing in the Cover Dog circuit. I'm proud to be one of a few. I love the pointers and setters that dominate our sport however I'm happy to compete with my Brittany's and occasionally get in the winners circle. Winner - Don Dicot Memorial Classic 1989, Winner - National Brittany Chicken Championship 1998, Winner - National Brittany Grouse Championship 2020 and 2021. My favorite trials are on native birds and continuous course competition which all of these were.
I've been a member of CVGDA since 1971 and held numerous officer positions- currently Secretary. It is gratifying to see the growth and increased national prominence of the club over the last 50+ years. In 2015 after many years of negotiations, Kathy and I were able to but the only private 40-acre parcel on the field trial grounds. Course six (Stokley Diablo Jake Course) runs through the 40-acres. It's exciting to have this course cross our land and we are happy to share it with all that come to the field trials.
My main hobby is Bird Dogs and promoting ethical use of the county forest land. In addition, I love being with my family and the grandkids enjoying life. I enjoy fly fishing for Bluegills in the spring and managing our property on the Rib River in Wausau which we have raised approximately 4260 Wood Ducks (50+ next boxes) in the last 35 years.
I'm extremely excited about the future of CVGDA and promoting Grouse and Woodcock bird dog trials for the future. I believe that by not shooting the birds we are being better stewards of the resource and providing a brighter future for generations to come.
